Thanks.

Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
That looks super interesting Mountain! Are these available now? And are you using the new components on the VK2008 scooters? I'm guessing you'll stop using the Sabvoton (搏思通) controllers for the 6kW spec VK2008 and start using these new FOC controllers?
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
Do you plan to stop selling through dealers and only sell directly to end customers?
Yes, this is becoming more and more apparent, even with long-time importers of erider bikes. Some are thinking of becoming more like organizers of central buying events, directly from the Chinese source to the end customer, and thus leaving all warrantee issues with the Chinese source, plus maybe some kind of treaty between importer and source conceringing servicing of the bikes.
So many importers have gone bust on massive warrantee trouble that now the few that still remain are looking at financially safer options. I have no clue yet how this will work out, but it is already happening.
My rides:
2017 Zero S ZF6.5 11kW, erider Thunder 5kW

Sevcon or Sabvoton controllers are all FOC controller, which means SINE Wave program controller.

Exciting times! Order placed for my red/black 6kW VK2008 with eRider's upgraded high torque motor. No dealers in Beijing, so I ordered direct from Mountain Chen himself.

Delivery in roughly 2 weeks!
Hmm, as I understand it by talking to Mountain a couple of days ago, the new motor meantioned above is only a 10 inch testing sample and the 13 inch version will not be ready for testing for another month or so.
If you order now you will propably get the high torque version of the black QuanShun motor.
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
Mountain didn't specifically mention the diameter of the motor, but he did mention of the new "single wire motor he had referred to 'in the forums'", which I can only assume is the one mentioned above. The thick, high efficiency motor of the images and posts above don't appear to be a 'single wire' motor, but Mountain and I were discussing in Chinese; perhaps a translation issue?
Mountain - would you mind clarifying? Be grateful if you didn't fit a 10-inch motor/wheel to my VK2008!

Hi there. My bike is nearly 2 years old with nearly 12,000km on it. I have never had a problem with any cell being drasically lower than any others. I can still get around 50.1Ah out of the 50Ah pack (I know I shouldn't but sometimes you have to). I have even bough 16 of these CHL cells for use on my home-converted electric dirtbike!!! I run these cells at 180Amps and they perform brilliantely even without a BMS.
Absolutely no complaints about the CHL cells at all!!
Here's a video of the dirtbike "Scrappy" on youtube. It is a 48v (16 cell) CHL powered beast!! Easily able to do burnouts and stuff
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
Yes,next month just 2 weeks after yr payment, maybe several days earlier !
Ah, all clear now! Super excited and can't wait! That said, do please take your time in testing out and refining the product thoroughly before shipping it over!

Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
I have about 14,000 km over 2 1/2 years on my 24-cell GBS pack and while I did have one bad cell in the first season of riding, I have seen no apparent degradation of the pack yet.
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
I just want to post in that there are NO DEALERS in my area where I can get one of M.Chen's Electric bikes.
Therefore I will have to buy from him, and if it needs servicing I will be in trouble :(
I also must say that I am happy that he is on here and he is willing to ship to the States.
I will be getting the bigger Puma Maxi ... when and if I am ever able to save the $$ to get it :)
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)

Yes I know the troubles with being an early adopter. I live some 700km from my nearest dealer. But I'm lucky that I completely understand how everything works on the bike and can fix most problems myself. My dealer eRider in Melbourne has been super helpful with parts, even when it wasn't his fault. Like when the shipping company cracked the front fender. Honestly customer service like is worth thousands when it's word of mouth, much better than hearing a boring ad on radio. I have seen that big Puma maxi too and WOW it looks fantastic! I reckon if they run that at 120v with a REAL 12kw hub motor and 40 CHL 50Ah cells then this bike would be fantastic with a speed around 125km/h and a REAL world range of 117km!! That would REALLY compete with petrol scooters then, I'd want one :)
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
I am planning a project this winter with maybe a Yamaha Majesty 250cc chassis and the Quanshun 8kw with a Sevcon and 30pcs of CHL 50Ah.
I think it´s very conservative to say 125km/h with 40 CHLs, since my does 95km/h easily with 24 cells. Think it will do around 115km/h with 30 cells.
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
Well let's work it out shall we?
The amount of power, P, required to move a body at velocity, v, is given by:
where F is the force applied on that body.
For an electric system, power, P is also given by:
Where V is the voltage of the system and I is the current flowing through that system.
Now let's throw in a few assumptions here and assume that at the speeds we're discussing, all the power produced by the drivetrain is used to overcome air resistance (and to a very large extent, this is the case).
So:
Doing a whole bunch of rearranging, we get:
So let's throw some numbers in. Let's take rho (the density of air) to be 1.225kg/m^3 (at 15 degrees Celsius and at sea level), and using the numbers from the image below, let's take the coefficient of drag to be 1.1 and the frontal area to be 6ft^2.
Plug in those numbers, play around with the units and you get:
So, what sort of current needs to be fed to the motor to get to 125km/h, if we're running 40 x 3.2V = 128V
Plugging the numbers in, we get: 123 amps.
So the question is, with a 40 cell setup, can we get 123 amps to the motor, at full tilt? The batteries are rated for 3C, so they're not the bottleneck, which is the controller/motor combination. At top speed, pcarlson says that his controller puts out 80-90amps max. Now I'm not an electrical engineer, so my understanding of back EMF is limited at best, but it seems logical to reason (Ohm's law) that by increasing the voltage of the circuit, the max current which the controller can put out to the motor will go up correspondingly. Am I right on this? And if so, is there any way of estimating the max current which a controller can deliver to a motor, accounting for the effects of back EMF?
Hopefully this is a slightly less hand-wavey way to estimate if getting to 125km/h with 40 CHLs is in the realm of possibility.

I think eRider stopped advertising the scooters as 8kw as they are now all 8kw versions unless specified otherwise. Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
Hi Johnnyfive. Yes they are already certified for Australian use. I live in Canberra and the only hassle I had was because it's a low volume import, I had to list the "Make" as ZZ and the engine size as 1cc. Because it's electric I even get a 20% discount off my rego, but I think that discount is an ACT thing? 2 years on and the bike still runs like a dream!!
Re: ERider 8000W scooter - Australia (similar to xm5000li)
Thanks for that, really good news. I've made a big investment in solar over the last few years, with 5kw on grid and 10kw off grid with storage, partly in preparation for electric vehicles. Electric scooters are my way of getting familiar with the technology at a relatively low cost
Ok,sorry, since your reply,I can't delete the prices now.
