Aotema throttle

Does anyone know where we can get one? Ordered one from High Tek Bikes, but cannot contact them and their website is not up anymore.

Best Power System for Day 6 Semi-Recumbent Bicycle

I want add a power system to a Day 6 Journey (7 speed Shimano Nexus internal gear hub) or Journey EX (7-speed Shimano derailleur). In the event that I choose a mid-drive power system (e.g., Cyclone 500-watt kit ($495)), then I would choose the Journey EX over the Journey because I am concerned that the 7 speed Shimano Nexus internal hub drive may lack the durability to withstand the combined pedal and motor power.

Wilderness Energy BL36 Hub Motor quit working- HELP

I have the Wilderness Energy BL36 kit on my TREK bike. I have only used it a few times in a year since i had it. Today I went out on the bike trail and the hub motor will not work. I thought maybe the SLA batteries weren't fully charged so I came back home and charged them fully. Still no luck. I measured the batteries and they read over the 12VDC each and I get a 48V reading out of the battery pack terminal before it enters the controller.

Loud drum brakes fix?

The rear drum brakes on my bike are really loud. It seems that this is pretty common in Chinese scooters. The front brake is not loud at all. Is there anything that can be done about the noise short of disconnecting the cable?

New bike: what else do I need?

I bought a Qelectric Gelato off of craigslist. I replaced the dead batteries (this is a different story). It seems to run pretty well now. I plan to ride it work an back. What do I need in my trunk?

Outside of the trunk I have a helmet, multi-meter, and soldering tools (not all to be used at once). Is there anything else that is essential at home base?

Giant Suede E Problem

I have a Giant Suede E that i purchased new for my father in Oct 2007. He didn't want it and it's been sitting in my climate controlled garage since then. I want to sell it, but was worried about the battery condition. I charged it up and the charger showed green and yellow LEDs. I rode the bike about 20 miles in power assist and the last 2 miles in full electric until all leds on the throttle blinked and the battery died. When I recharged for two days, the recharger led stays red. I tried to refresh, but nothing happened.

I'm posting here as well as in the Marketplace. Hope that's OK. Here's a cut and paste of that posting.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Douglas Schwartz, Founder of ELV Motors, Inc., conducted an informal survey at Silicon Valley companies during test rides of electric and hybrid bikes at Earth Day events. Below are the top 10 reasons workers gave for not riding bikes, and how the electric bike can overcome most of them.

1. I haven't ridden a bike in years.

BionX Charging Problem

I just got home from my commute . The battery gage shows half empty. However, when I go to charge the battery it goes from yellow to green in only 5 seconds. When I check the battery gage it shows half empty. For some reason the battery charger thinks the battery is charged even though it is half empty.

The Tripod velomobile

Just added Columbia Cycle Works to the vendor directory (http://visforvoltage.org/vendor/vendor-type/8776) because they sell an interesting and affordable velomobile.

So, it's a tadpole recumbent with an aerodynamic shell. Sometimes I think I want one - e.g. in february when it was raining a lot. I suppose in Portland they worry more about rain than we do down here in the SF Bay Area ;-) ...
