I purchased an electric bike conversion kit from an Australian
business called Solar Bike. It is absolutely fantastic, I purchased
the 350W front hub kit with 36V 10ah LiFePO4 battery for my mountain
bike (26" rim). I'm getting a range of about 42km with light pedalling
and am moving at an average speed of between 35-40km/hr even uphill.
These guys are fantastic, quick to respond to emails and at a really
fair price. I think that they've done their homework on all the
testing from their responses and website. Check them out at

I live in the UK and I just bought a UM36SX pedelec (after loads of delays, don't ask, but I would never, never, never buy anything from them ever, ever, ever again). However, leaving that aside, I bought it and it's fine but low geared.
Because it's a pedelec, I'm told that changing the crank wheel for a larger one isn't an option.

I would like to know if controllers in general have overheat protection where they shut down & specifically whether or not a CYCLONE controller has it. I have a complete new Cyclone system--a 650 watt & the controller is remote to where I cannot feel it while riding. On one of my 1st test runs I had just climbed a steep bridge (I had climbed it earlier & was on the return trip & some time had elapsed--1/2 hour or so) came down the slope and traveled a few blocks & the system shut down. I never saw a yellow light but may have missed it.

Saw this discussed on a different mailing list.. It's an electric bicycle motor that includes some regenerative something or other magic juju. The info on the website is badly translated to english but it says something about regen during downhill riding.
fst-biketech.com is a German company. This might not be getting distribution in the U.S. Maybe one of our European members is familiar with this?

I am getting a 48V 14Ah NiMH pack from GMB Power. They have asked me for the following:
What are
1.the current,
2. the pulse and duration time.
3. the wire type and length.
The pack will power a Crystalyte 408/4011 hub motor. What do I tell them?
Thanks.

Saw the following press release and they make an interesting point ... BTW see Electric Bicycle History for the long history of electric bicycles. The first patent on an electric bicycle was in 1895.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- More than one billion people in 190 countries will be taking action for Earth Day 2010. ELV Motors, Inc is doing its part by offering practical and affordable zero emission vehicles in the form of electric bicycles.

I've had my 36V evg bike for several months with no problem until today when I installed a fully charged battery pack in the bike when the power switch was turned on. When I went to take it for a ride it went nowhere. It still gets power, all the lights are working etc. It just doesn't seem to send any power to the drive motor. Did I blow some kind if fuse or something......Please help.

Does any one know how to contact Golden Motors? I have emailed them @ sales [at] goldenmotors.com with no response. I am trying to buy a controller from them but want email contact first. Thanks!

Hello fellow electric bicycle lovers.
We all want the best there is out there for a low price...TRUE?
Well I for 1 do, so I went on the hunt for many months to find the perfect ebike or kit.
I live here in Australia so our laws are 200w or less for on-roads so this seemed a struggle to find an electric bike that will give power, torque, speed & reliability plus not to mention a good deal!
This was a difficult endeavour as I wanted allot for myself here.
