Gearing my Boxer

While I'm waiting for the ESC and servo tester (aka throttle) to arrive, I'm trying to figure out what gearing I'll need with my new motor.

My Piaggio Boxer wheels are 14" in radius, so if my high-school geometry is right, that's 2 x pi x r = 88" in circumference.

If go 5 mph, that's 316800 inches per hour, that's 3600 rotations per hour or 60 rotations per minute.

Super huge motor arrives.... controller / throttle to follow

Well, the motor from United Hobbies arrived! Very fast shipping, I ordered on Friday and it got to me on Wednesday from Hong Kong. The packaging was secure and everything seemed in place:

Some more photos of the Boxer Piaggio

At the current moment, I have the ICE engine out and the Razor motor in and wired up. Using a small hub on the 500 watt motor, I'm getting about 5-8mph and not nearly enough power to make it up hills. Fortunately, this was designed as a moped and I can pedal assist whenever I need to. Also, the centrifigual clutch means I can't stall out the motor.

BIG GIANT EV GRIN :>)...CBR 600 F3 CONVERSION RUNS AND DRIVES!

Today was a great day. A big victory in my little EV world. I rode the CBR to my friends house. He just about flipped out. "Dude! Your NUTS! That thing is cool! You totally snuk up on me!" ( he was working in the yard when I silently drove up). :)
My 14 year old niece came over for the day to visit, and I gave her the very first ride as a passenger on the bike. Pretty neat. Then she drove every other EV we have, taking turns on each one all day long. It was a great EV day, and all 5 EV's were running great.

Shipping and receiving

Okay one thing I have been noticing a lot on the forum, is shipping and receiving problems of new scooters. It seems that a lot of folks who receive their new scooters(sometimes) end up having cosmetic damages.
I am just wondering how well these companies package their products well enough, to prevent damage (for travel).
In any case, if any parts are damaged (when you receive their product), you should be able to get a replacement part for free, in exchange for the broken or damaged part (especially if it's warrentied).

xm3k dead, need help

Hi folks,

I'm a newbie with xm3k as my first escoot.

Received xm3k on July 7, other than cosmetic problems: broken panels, missing handcup,
ripped seat cover, the xm3k seemed ok.

after initial inspection and tighten some nuts/bolts, executed John H. recommendation of charging/ride 1-2 miles;
charge and ride. Worked great.

on the fourth and longer ride, 5 miles with some hills, the scoot had problem climing some hills, though the battery
meter was still in the green zone; which is not unexpected.

Understanding ev specs

Hi,
I am new to this forum and to EVs. I already found a wealth of information, thanks so much for that.

I've been interested in the Vectrix since before they came out and I'm just waiting for my (new) employer to install an outside electric outlet to buy a Vectrix.

Photographs from the dismantling of the ICE Piaggio Boxer

I finally got around to downloading the photos of the first half of my scooter's EV conversion from my digital camera. Here we go:

This is the Piaggio Boxer mo-ped that I'm converting:

This is the donor Razor for the motor, batteries, and controller:
