For most of the year I've been pondering the usefulness of different types of vehicles. I have a 10 mile commute, a range that's pretty easily bikeable, especially with an electric assist. I see my waistline and I think I'd like to be skinnier, and I like riding a bicycle, etc. Which makes me think if I put all these ideas together, I'd like to be biking to work regularly rather than riding. Sure, riding a motorcycle you're out in the open air etc, but it's not much in the way of exercise.

Well I had planned to have done some of the mods by now - alas "real life" (tm) got in the way. So, instead here are some photos of me scooting around Ann Arbor (OK, I'm not sure anyone else wants to see these - but it's my blog, right ;) )
Based on a post from GMan from an email he received:

I have most of the wiring figured out for my rear lights. Now, how do I wire the brake lights, when I apply my brakes will my turn signal not flash. For me the easy way would be to just run a third light for my brake light. It looks to me that automotive flasher, has 2 prongs, should be run like this, does it over ride the brake signal and keep just one of the lights flashing, will both lights flash if I hit the brakes?

The Good
I called my local bike shop, "The Bike Shop" in Richardson TX this morning, told my salesman Greg that I needed a wheel for my new fork, Greg used to be not so enthusiastic when I showed up or called, he's coming around now. Greg just called me back, great news, rim, spokes and a 20mm through hub, $100.00 smackeroos. Built! ha, cheaper than the internet.
The Bad

I took this picture about a month ago, I have and am spending some serious money on this machine. After taking this picture my charger went out.
The charger was a soniel model 2409, Andrew here on the forum is getting it, sorry Andrew, UPS passes my shop by if I am not there, post office is across the street here, will probably send it this evening.

Ride Report - the first 100 miles
OK - so I've ridden my XM-2000 about 100+ miles now. I've taken it to work and back (24 mile round trip) a couple of times. It cruises fine at 40mph - but it takes too long to get there. Up hills it drops to around 30mph. The stretches of 50mph limit road are where I start holding up traffic - oh well! I always ride close to the side and don't much mind if people squeeze past.
