Magic Sequences for Vectrix Service

Mik's picture

This page can be used to list the magic sequences that make a Vectrix VX-1 do certain things.
.

Here are the ones I remember off the top of my head - could anyone who has recently used them write exactly how it works, please?

I'll edit this first post so the best descriptions are added to the first post to make it more user-friendly.

Turning on both head-light filaments at once:

Turning off the head-light (different with different software versions):
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Motor encoder calibration:
With rear wheel lifted off the ground and side stand in the "up" position:
Before you turn on the key, apply full throttle and the right brake lever. Turn on key and hold throttle and brake until wrench icon appears. The encoder routine will start automatically. First the wheel will lock to a position then it will slowly turn until it is calibrated.
See: http://visforvoltage.org/forum/9644-encoder-calibration-routine
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Motor phase test:
With rear wheel lifted off the ground and side stand in the "up" position:
Before you turn on the key, apply full throttle and the left brake lever. Turn on key and hold throttle and brake until wrench icon appears. The motor (wheel) should spin forward slowly and smoothly. This tests the phases of the MC w/o any encoder feedback.

Checking battery temperature (different with different software versions):

Bike ignition On

I doubt we know them all yet, so please reply if you know any other magic sequences.

Have these been written down anywhere ?

Have these been written down anywhere ?

Yes, those have been mentioned somewhere on the VisforVoltage Vectrix pages before, but it needs some searching to find them. Then, they could be collected here in this thread in one easy to find place.

There is always a way if there is no other way!

I've added the procedures for encoder and phase test to the first post.

I found a Vectrix VX-1 Service Manual here. You have to join to access the zip file.

No luck with that site - don't know if it is a scam or just not working, but after registering, it won't let me login and some pages don't load...

I just tried it - I am a member already - and it works for me. The box at the bottom of the page is where the files can be clicked on to download. On my browser (Mac Safari), it initially looks blank, but if you hover your mouse over it, it populates with the files…

Perhaps you should try a different browser or maybe there is a delay in your registration being activated? MW

Mik,

Tried it with my "desktop" browser (Internet Explorer on Windows 8.1) today and it worked for some files. Downloaded the .hex files OK. Still does something wired and blocks my "metro" browser while the desktop is blocked trying to download the .rar file from that site...

Worked for all files. I could not for some reason download the .rar file directly to my network share (the browser just hangs up, even though it is not the largest file there), but it worked to my desktop locally.

I downloaded the software YEARS ago, but I finally BootCamped my Mac and when I transferred the files over it keeps giving me an error about needing to be re-installed. I fear it was because I unpacked the .rar on the Mac and threw the fie away. So I went to the linked website again and was greeted with this:

I tried the same thing on the PC side. OK, so I will come back later...

... Well it's been a week and the server is still down. So anyone still have a copy of the installer?

Hello,

The link is dead.

May you still have a copy? I want to centralize all documentation there.

Thank you.
