Vectrix Gear Box

Mik's picture

Anything related to the planetary gear box of the Vectrix VX-1 can be collected in this book chapter.

.

The pages linked below have been linked here from various threads on Visforvoltage and their title does not necessarily reflect the most important content which developed in those threads. I have not figured out how to change the title of the book pages - yet!

The book page called "Vectrix Real World Testing 2 : Noise Levels" contains information on how to reduce gearbox noise levels in some cases and many photos of the internal working of the earlier planetary gear box with the slimmer ring gear.

has great pictures of the older and the newer version of the gear box.

It is written in Catalan, here is the link to the original site: http://www.meteopallars.com/solar/YaBB.pl?num=1224718028/all

I just completed the modification on the gearbox - so I can add gear oil as needed. I recorded the process if you want to check it out:

Nice video, thanks!

Was that really 80ml oil you filled in? It looks like a lot less, but maybe that's a really big syringe?

It was a 60 ml syringe - I first injected 60 ml, then 20 ml. The video only showed the last 20 ml of oil I injected. (I edited heavily to shorten the video).
